On 5 May 2010, Senoko Energy was bestowed the "Outstanding Sustainability Award 2010". The award honours businesses which embrace holistic green business solutions that encompass economic, social and environmental dimensions to achieve the common goal of a sustainable future.
The site of Senoko Stage 2 was officially handed over to the engineering consortium on 16 December 2009. The Senoko Stage 2 Repowering Project will transform 3x250MW oil-fired steam plants into technologically modern and environmentally-friendly 2x425MW gas-fired combined cycle plants . These new plants will be the among the first to use Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). It will help to position Singapore for the post-Kyoto global carbon reduction commitments.

National Weather Study Project
16 teams were recognised for their comprehensive efforts in studying how climate change impacts the environment at the award ceremony held at Science Centre Singapore on 30 June 2009. Mr K. Shanmugam, Minister for Law & Second Minister for Home Affairs graced the occasion as the Guest-of-Honour. 14 finalists received cash prizes ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. Three teams qualify for a trip to Germany to showcase their projects this year.
